Eston #5

I talked to the doctor today and he said Eston can start trying to walk on his foot. He tried a little today, but he puts most of the weight on his heel....he is scared to put a whole lot of weight on his foot. The foot still looks like it did in post #4 only a little more red. I thought I would give you a break from looking at the pictures since there isn't much change. His thumb looks about the same as his foot. His right leg and butt cheek are all better. He still has a small patch of new red skin on his left leg but that should hopefully be better by the weekend. I think the foot will take a while but I am hoping it will be better by the time school starts. He wants so bad to go school shopping and pick out new shoes, but that is hard when he can't really try any on.

Other news: We have had a busy week. I took Eston with me to pick up some more bandages and medicine and man he is getting big. I was so tired when we got home. I am not used to carrying a 50 pound kid all around town. We stopped at Walmart for some pull ups and we found a new collar for Timber - pink camo --- he was so excited!!!
Beth took Eston to color me mine on Monday afternoon so he could get out of the house for a little bit. He has been so bored and she felt so bad for him. He had a lot of fun and painted a zebra. We will have to post some pictures after we pick it up on Saturday.
I am trying to get him out of the house as much as possible as he is so bored and I really don't like him sitting in front of the TV all day. He has done some coloring and kindergarten practice books but you can only do so much of that too. It is really hard for him when his brothers are going to the park and pool and he has to stay home. We have gone for lots of walks, but we can't have him out in the heat for very long either. UGH Anyway, things are getting better and he is getting better each day. We have another appointment in the cities on Monday and hopefully we will get good news. I am hoping to go back to work on Tuesday, keep your fingers crossed. Lauri has generously offered to watch Eston for us until he is back up to full speed --Thank you so much!!!
I also want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, they have definately worked.

Eston #4 8/9/09

First an update on Eston and then I will continue with our Sunday fun. Eston is doing great. His new skin is starting to grow and the dead skin is starting to come off. Here are some pictures if you want to see--they are a little gross.

We spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa's so he was very tired when we got home. He was sleeping so hard that I was able to cut away some of the dead skin without him even waking up. Here is a shot of him sleeping on the couch.

Here is his foot after I cut away some of the dead skin. I was able to get it rewrapped before he woke up. But man, when he woke up he was very grouchy!

Here is Sir Eston at mom and dad's. He was hauled around in the wagon all day and he needed an umbrella to shade himself from the sun.

Grandma and I think Lucky. The horses had their first baths yesterday.

Grandpa and Lucky - I love this shot!

Chance during his bath. Doesn't he look awesome. He is such a pretty horse.

The twins had their turn when the horses were done. As you can see, I didn't bring swimming trunks for them so they just wore their tighty whities. gotta love it.

Eston Update #3

Eston is doing a lot better. His burns are starting to itch which is good because that means it is starting to heal. He still cannot walk on his foot so we are carrying him everywhere. He is starting to crawl around a bit, so he can play.
Here is how his foot looked Saturday night.
I know it looks nasty but it actually looks a lot better.

Brecken and Uncle Rob came over to play Saturday afternoon. The twins and Brecken had a lot of fun in the pool while Rob and Eston watched a movie. Thanks so much for coming over, Eston had a lot of fun!
They look so busted! They had a lot of fun.

Okay, so while I was inside with Eston I decided to go through all the baby clothes and get things ready for the garage sale. Eston found these bib - pants in the bin and said I could not sell them. He actually had to wear them, they are size 24 months. I can't believe he even got them on, but he wore them all day.

Eston Update #2

Today we had our appt at the burn center at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The appointment went very well. Dr. Arenholtz was very positive and thought his burns actually looked pretty good. We need to continue to keep him off his foot, keep it elevated and covered. He also thinks that he should be ready to start kindergarten come September. We will need to go back up in 10 days to have him recheck the wounds and possibly remove the dead skin.
We also had a PT appt today and Eston has full range of motion in his hand, which is great. We have some hand exercises to work on. Dr. Arenholtz wants us to hold off on anything with the foot until the skin is healed. Eston can practice moving his toes and foot as much as possible, just no walking.
The burn center had a beautiful fish aquarium in the waiting room. Eston took about 75 pictures of the fish. Whatever keeps him entertained!!!
Here are a couple of pics from todays trip - no foot pictures though.

Update on Eston #1

Before our Dr appt today, Lauri took us to little Dudes and Divas. Here are a few pics. Eston was pretty excited to show off his fancy hair to the doctors.

Today we met with the surgeon who met with us the day Eston was discharged. After looking at Eston's foot he decided to refer us to the burn center at Regions Hospital in the cities. We have an OT appointment tomorrow morning at 7:45 and then we will head to the cities for a 1:00 appt. I will try to update my blog tomorrow night so you all know what we find out.
Last night the blister on his thumb popped, which was very painful. The blisters on his foot are starting to ooze a little and are still very painful. Here are some pictures of his foot from today's Dr. visit.

Eston

For those of you who have not heard, Eston had a pretty significant accident this past weekend. We had a Ferrie Family gathering at my mom and dad's house which was a lot of fun until........Eston was flying his kite and while he was running backwards to get the kite going, he fell into the campfire. We rushed him to the ER and they treated him for burns to his left hand, both calves, right butt cheek and his left foot. His foot is by far the worse of it, it is pretty severe. He has an appointment tomorrow and then physical therapy on Thursday. We are hoping all heals well, but there is a lot of damage to the upper portion of his foot, especially his toes. I will try and keep my blog up to date so you all know how he is doing. As of right now, he is pretty much just sitting around on the couch and bored out of his mind. I have been taking him for walks in the wagon and he has had a lot of visitors who have been very generous with their gifts. He cannot walk so we have to carry him everywhere - man that kid is getting big!

Here are a few pictures of his burns. I would love to say they are looking better, but his foot just doesn't at all. Hopefully we will get some good news tomorrow. Keep you fingers crossed.

Ferrie Family Fun!

So, this past weekend was the 2nd Annual Ferrie Family Fun weekend out at my mom and dad's. All most all the Ferrie's were able to make it. The weekend started Friday night and went through Sunday. Unfortunately the weekend didn't start out very fun for Eston. We were making Pizza Pies on the fire and he burnt his hand on the pie iron. We made a trip to the ER and all was better after some happy medicine. Unfortunately he couldn't use his left hand much after that.

On Saturday the real fun started. The day started off kind of cool but slowly warmed up. We broke out the 100 ft water slide and the fun was ready to begin. Here are some pics. I actually didn't take all that many because I video taped most of it - Hilarious!!!

Grandpa getting the water slide ready. They had 2 hoses of water running down it and he put soap on it to make it slippery.

Here is Grayson going down. Him and Asher had an absolute blast. I bet they went down at least 50 times.

Uncle Jason going down. As you can see they went so fast they kept going after they reached the end of the slide.

My Cousin Amber heading down.

My Cousin Kayla. She had very nice form every time she went down.

My uncle Kevin. He was hilarious to watch and listen to when he would go down.

Asher cruising down the slide.

Uncle Rob waving as he slides by.

My Uncle Darin hitting the grass. I think he had just as much fun as the kids.

Eston anticipating the grass. he had a blast even though his hand was wrapped in a bread bag.

Audrey and Brittain going down the slide. They were a little more cautious than my boys.

Eston and Brecken on the waterslide that the Thomley's bough the twins for their 3rd birthday.

Grayson and Asher having some fun on their new waterslide.

Grandpa and Eston having fun with the sidewalk chalk.

The boys carefully watching uncle rob make water balloons.
